Leicester Beer Festival Charity - LOROS
LOROS, The
Leicestershire and Rutland Hospice, Groby Road, Leicester is an
independent local charity and is recognised as one of the foremost
hospices in the country. It provides a comprehensive service of
continuing care for people throughout Leicestershire and Rutland
who are terminally ill.
In the 18
years that the Hospice has opened its doors, LOROS has cared for
over 14,000 patients and the demand is increasing every year. The
NHS provides £2.1million towards it's services. However, this
leaves an astounding £2.5million to be raised from fundraising and
voluntary donations.
The last 4
beer festivals have tried to raise money for LOROS in memory of
Julie Stanley who was the organiser of our 1999 beer festival and
found the Charotar Patidar Samaj as a suitable venue for further
beer festivals. Julie died of cancer in 2001 before she could
realise her dream of staging a successful beer festival at the
venue she had found.
This year,
2004, we had 4 charity buckets at the beer festival and raised a
total of £650.72 the best collection to date.
Thank you to
everyone who donated.
