Meet the Publican - The Tom Hoskins, Leicester

We visit "The Tom Hoskins" on Beaumanor Road, Leicester, this time. Marie Gore is the Licensee, born Marie Wright in Leicester (she can’t remember where, though) in 1962, to parents Sheila and Peter Wright. They lived in Braunstone, Leicester, where she attended school. By the time she was 16, she was attending St Jonathan North Girls' School, from where she left to work at Kwik Save on Saffron Lane, Leicester, as a cashier.

While working there, she met the man who was to become her first husband and left Kwik Save when she was pregnant. This is a part of her life Marie now wishes to leave behind her.

A few years later, in 2000, while drinking in The Broadway on Abbey Lane, Leicester, she met Erroll. When her marriage ended, in August 2007, they both teamed-up to apply for The Tom Hoskins, Marie’s first pub. In November that year, Marie acquired her Personal License and they took on The Tom Hoskins. Marie says “The pub gets better each day and i really enjoy being a Landlady. In her spare time (what little there is) she enjoys shopping, going to the gym and she is currently learning to drive. The Tom Hoskins has improved since Marie and Erroll moved in. It is definitely worth a visit.

K Williams.
