GOOD BEER GUIDE

Bishops Castle Trip

On Saturday 12 July 2008, 14 members and friends of Leicester CAMRA joined the Loughborough Branch in their annual pilgrimage to the Bishops Castle Town beer festival.

We arrived there at 1145 and were told see you at 7pm! For those unfamiliar with the festival all 5 pubs have there own festivals. Personally, I visited The Castle Hotel, Three Tuns and Six Bells and found a good range of beers available.

The gem was when some of the Leicester Branch made muttering's about visiting Clun to the GBG entry The White Horse Inn. I found out that we could go and have about 40 mins there before returning, so at least 10 of us caught the Shropshire Hills Shuttlle Bus.

We were made really welcome there. It had a mixture of 5 Shropshire/Herefordshire beers on good quality and good prices to match a hospitable landlord. I chatted to him and found out the hoped to brew his own beer later this year using a 2.5barrel plant. The visit broke the day up at Bishops Castle.
