Leicester CAMRA Xmas
Social 2011
Saturday 17th December saw our annual Christmas social crawl
around the pubs of Leicester. Around 35 members attended,
gaining some and loosing some during the day. This was a nice
opportunity to meet up
with everyone and it was
particularly pleasing to find that some new CAMRA members
had come along. It was also good to visit pubs some of us
hadn't been to for a while.
Our tour took us to the Globe, the Longstop, the Salmon, Bridle
Lane Tavern,
Shakespeare's Head, the
Criterion, Swan &
Rushes, The Pub, Slug and Lettuce and finally the Ale
Wagon. All of the the pubs had a great range of beers, with a
good choice of Christmas specials available. Certainly
all the beers I tried (which was quite a few !) were in
excellent condition and all the pub landlords and managers were
very welcoming. Thanks go to Steve and June at the Salmon for
an excellent buffet and Paul at The Pub for the teatime mince
pies. A very
enjoyable
day and it's great to see the real ale scene thriving in our
home city.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the Leicester
CAMRA Branch - see you in 2012.
