Leicester CAMRA Beer Festival 2003
The most recent festival was held from Thursday 27th to Saturday 29th March 2003 at the Charotar Patidar Samaj.
Thursday 27th
March and three months hard work for many all seemed worth it as we
opened our doors at 11.00am prompt for our 4th Beer Festival,
letting in the queue of thirsty samplers, shopping trolleys and
all.
With 115
beers from 37 breweries to choose from, 2,262 people drank their
way through 8,755 pints of beer in 3 days, not to mention the cider
and perry. The 10 Festival Special brews proved to be most
popular, however the first beer to sell out was Leek Staffordshire
Gold at 3.55pm on Friday. I was particularly pleased to see that
more people filled out their “Beer of the Festival” slip this year.
We can now announce that this year’s winner is Grainstore Steamin’
Billy Fox’s Revenge. Congratulations go to Tony and William Davies
at Grainstore. Runner up this year was Brewsters Black Annis.
Congratulations go to Sarah Barton of Brewsters.

My thanks go
to Everards Brewery Ltd and Oakham Ales for their sponsorship.
Mansfield & Ashfield and Loughborough CAMRA Branches for loan of
stillaging, Anchorprint for the festival programme, Beer My Guest
for beers supplied, the Charotar Patidar Samaj staff for the
curries, all 67 members of staff who helped stage the festival and,
most important, YOU, the public who came and made the event the
success it was.
See you next year?
Keith Williams (Branch Chairman /
Festival Organiser).
