Pub Of The Month April 2007 - The Fox & Goose, Illston on the Hill

For our April Pub Of The Month, it was out to one of our rural pubs in the east of the county. We went to meet George Bullers, who is Licensee of one of the gems in our Branch area, The Fox & Goose at Illston On The Hill.

This Everards pub seems untouched since the days when it was a tied house to the now defunct Ruddles Brewery. It displays evidence of such inside as well.

George was presented with his award and was chuffed to say the least. Being the jolly sort of fellow that he is, he thanked us for the award while joking with his regulars as well as with me. In the picture, previous award certificates can be seen on the wall, including one of the few awarded to commemorate being in all of the first ten Good Beer Guides. We enjoyed great hospitality. After the presentation, we were all fed with piping hot shepherds pie before heading back to Leicester. Thanks go to all who made this presentation night such a good one.
