August 2000

New Greyhound Billesdon

The latest Leicester Camra Pub of the Month award for pubs offering top quality real ale was awarded to the New Greyhound at Billesdon at a ceremony on 23rd of August 2000. This former Marston's house, now part of Wolverhampton and Dudley, is a two roomed village pub located on the old A47 and offers a warm friendly welcome. The award evening was enhanced by the presence of not one but two troops of Morris dancers, one male one female (is this how Morris dancers reproduce?), displaying their art on the market place. Excellent Marston's Pedigree and Bitter and Banks's Original were available. The pub is listed in the 2001 Good Beer Guide. Well worth a visit.
