The Criterion
on Millstone Lane, Leicester, opened it’s doors for the first time
on 3rd January 2003 following its transformation from
The Nags Head. Just over a year later saw the Leicester CAMRA
Branch, gathered to present a well earned award.
It was
Wednesday 21st January 2004 and many of our members were
gathered along with the Pub Quiz regulars, working their way
through the list of 8 beers available. As well as the regular
Hardys & Hansons and Oakham beers, two guest beers which proved
popular on the night were, Castle Rock “Trammie Dodger (3.8%) and
Abbeydale Matins (3.6%) As always, all the beers were in fine
fettle.
Just after
9pm, Keith made his usual speech and congratulated Grant Cook on
the success of converting The Nags Head in to the pub that it is
today, and the excellent quality of the beer. He then presented
Grant with his award “Pub Of The Month for January 2004”
Grant thanked
Keith and the Leicester CAMRA Branch as well as his customers. He
added how pleased he was to receive such a prestigious award and
announced that a pizza buffet was now being served. A most
enjoyable evening for all present.
