July 2005 - The Griffin, Swithland
A
vote by branch members made The Griffin Inn at Swithland our
“Pub of the Month” for July 2005.
On Wednesday 20th
July eighteen of us were at the pub to present the award to the
licensee John Coolidge and his wife Sue. The pub was extremely
busy as there was a quiz night, a meeting of MG owners, a group
in the long alley skittle alley and a packed dining area.
On offer at the
bar were Everard’s Beacon, Tiger Best Bitter and Original along
with Brunswick and Adnams Bitter. All were served well by
friendly staff who managed to keep the queues at the bar to a
minimum.
At about 9.30 we
managed to meet with John and Sue in the dining room and the
“Pub Of The Month” certificate was presented by Keith Williams,
our Branch Chairman.
John said he was
pleased to receive the award and thanked Leicesterl CAMRA Branch
for voting for his pub. He also promised to hang the certificate
in a prominent position when he was a little less busy!
On behalf of all of us
there, I would like to thank John and Sue for their hospitality.
Not only did we get a drink, we were also treated to great
chunks of excellent pork pie. The pub is an great place to visit
and it was easy to see why it had the votes of the branch
members.
Sue Wilkins.
