Two awards at the The Hat & Beaver

It was Wednesday 5^th May at The Hat & Beaver. Tony Cartwright the Licensee had taken his cribbage team to The Royal British Legion Club at Oadby. They were there to defend their title as winners of the Ex-Servicemen’s Cup for the second year running. They returned to The Hat & Beaver later that evening to celebrate their win, complete with Cup In Hand.

On arrival back at the pub, they were welcomed with the second award on the same evening when I presented Anthony Cartwright with The CAMRA “Pub Of The Month” award for May 2004 in recognition of the high quality of the beer at the Hat.

Anthony being the modest man that he is, not interested in publicity, thanked Leicester CAMRA for their support, saying he was pleased to receive the award and offered to buy a round. That’s what you call a generous Landlord.  Sadly, news has reached us recently that Anthony will be leaving The Hat & Beaver later in the year. More on this in the next Leicester Drinker.
