September 2005 - Out of the Vaults, Leicester

In March last year, Out Of The Vaults
opened to the drinkers of Leicester for the first time during
our Beer Festival week. It became an ideal replacement for
The Vaults on Wellington Street, which had closed for good in
September 2003.
Paul Summers and Jude Crighton
had made it happen, continuing the concept of selling beers from
micro breweries and small independent breweries only. The big
breweries with their “National Brands” stand NO CHANCE.
During the last year, Jude,
along with her partner, Mick, has moved to Bishops Castle in
Shropshire to run the Three Tuns, as featured in
News. Vaults regular Daksha Patel stepped in to share the
running of Out Of The Vaults with Paul. They have continued to
bring many unusual and different beers from small brewers across
the Country, giving the drinker a wide choice, as well as
supporting the small brewer who is starting out and who needs to
get established.
In recognition of this, the
members of Leicester CAMRA voted Out Of The Vaults “City Pub Of
The Year” for 2005 as well as recently also voting it as “Pub Of
The Month” for September 2005. As a special treat for Paul, I
also presented him with the “Pub Of The Year” award for 2003,
which was intended for The Vaults. Having been voted “Pub Of The
Year” for 2003, sadly The Vaults closed before we could present
the award. Paul had been the Manager at the time, so it was
fitting to present Paul with the award he had earned and waited
two years for.
Daksha and Paul thanked
Leicester CAMRA for the recognition and awards and the support
given to Out Of The Vaults since opening in March of last year.

Williams.
